Publicize and Share
Now that you already know the basics of blogging, the most important things that you should do are: (1) write a lot of articles; and, (2) share your blog to as many people as you can. Gladly, you just have to do the first because WordPress.com has integrated a lot of free sharing tools.
Wordrpess.com has a built-in sharing system that enables you to connect to different social media. The Sharing page under the Settings panel would enable you to Publicize and Share easily.
Publicize
In the Publicize section of the sharing page, WordPress.com allows you to automatically import your blog posts to five different social media and sharing sites: Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo Updates, Messenger Connect, and Linkedin (Figure 1).
You can connect to these media sites in a few steps. We will demonstrate how to connect with Facebook, and leave you to figure out how to connect to other social media sites. The steps are almost similar.
Step by Step Instructions in Connnecting to Facebook
1.) Login to your Facebook account
2.) Click the Connect to Facebook link
3.) A dialog box will ask you if you for your Authorization to connect to the site, just click Authorize Connection to Facebook, and you are done.
Once connected, every post you make in your WordPress.com blog will be imported to Facebook. This way, your friends would be informed once you posted article through your Facebook wall.
Share
At the bottom of the Sharing page is the Share section. The Share section contains social media buttons that will be displayed at the bottom of each blog post. The Available Services subsection contains the buttons that you can place at the bottom of your post. The Enabled services are the buttons that you will see at the bottom of your blog. The Live Preview is how your sharing button look like at the bottom of your posts.
To use this option, do the following:
1.) Drag the button from the Available Services to the Enabled Services.
2.) See how your button will look like in the Live Preview section.
3.) Choose the Button Style, and Sharing Label, and other settings just below the Live Preview section.
4.) If you are done, just click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
Once you are done, these buttons will be displayed at the bottom of each post just like shown in the figure below.
In the next post, we will be giving you more tutorials about basic blogging.
